Sheffield and some stuff.
July 11, 2009
Back in April Miek came over for some good partying.
When we got home there was a dead rat in front of my house,
which seemed extremely funny and interesting at that hour of the night :)
A frame shot the morning after.
In April me, Zeyn and Jo also FINALLY finished a project that seemed to be neverending. Hurrah for us.
Some study avoiding camera geeking.
At the end of April me, Miek and JD went to visit Myrna (and Sander) who were living and studying in Sheffield for a while.
The night before we left I stayed at Joost (’cause I had a shoot in the same city).
At the airport (that’s not my reflection btw).
(Shot by Miek)
Arrived in Sheffield in the evening and just went hanging around the neighbourhood.
Next day the weather was lovely and we were having a cig and coffee outside.
Sander peeking.
Miek peeking.
:)
This is all shot on Superia 400 with the Olympus XA, btw.
Hanging out in the park like we know how to do properly.
And recording it.
Me and Miek got into a catfight and Tom took this frame I really like!
That’s Tom.
And that’s a horrendous lightleak I have fixed by now (finally!).
Some more hanging out (and recording) in the city.
Some doglover.
Some gorgeous light.
Some weird store.
Next day it got rainy
It’s funny how even the most regular streets seem interesting to photograph when you’re abroad.
Obligatory-group-shot-in-reflection-forced-by-me.
As mentioned it got rainy so we went to a gallery, which obviously excited JD.
Miek: “Sander checking whether to renovate or tear down the building.”
(Shot by JD)
Off to a café,
with JD still looking very excited :D
Classic case of fish & chips.
Well fed into bed.
And the next day it was already time for us to head back to the NL’s.
On the train to Manchester.
Having a coffee after missing our plane.
And finally… hours and hours later we managed to get back on the continent.
In Brussels to be precise. I think this is the last frame I shot on the trip. Proof we made it! Being deadtired though.
Catching up with my lovely wifey in Leiden.
And a few days later I “celebrated” a national holiday in Amsterdam far, far away from the partying crowds.
So that’s April wrapped up!
Next entry will be covering June, with a trip to Hamburg (some b/w frames!)
and two awesome brothers from Chicago visiting Rotterdam.
Hope you enjoyed these frames – thanks for dropping by!

Some photos from the past months – shot with the Olympus XA on Superia400.
NYE
Hanging out on Myrna’s balcony.
There’s an occasional lightleak, but I changed the foam already (and messed up another part in the process… Woops).
JD’s face in the bg cracks me up every time.
A short visit to the countryside.
A visit from Miek at my place.
And from Myrna.
Dinner at Tess’ in Nijmegen.
Goodbye party of my lovely ex-flatmate Ladina.
Making a model with Jo & Zeyn for our shitty CTP project.
JD & Miek at my place.
Very random and anachronistic entry, but if you’re a regular you might be used to that by now.
At a very crappy exhibition at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
With Tess on our way from Rotterdam to Nijmegen, after a great night out in Amsterdam.
And the getting ready with Miek for another night out in Nijmegen.
And now for some older stuff from last Summer that I found while archiving
(if you can call putting prints in shoeboxes that…)
APX400.
Zeynep, with long hair still.
Summerfestivities in Nijmegen.
Superia400 again.
Our trip to Budapest, last Summer.
I really love those random middle of nowhere pitstops.
That’s it for now. Thanks for dropping by!
Next entry will be the rolls I shot in Sheffield.
Have a good night!
Daily Life
March 6, 2009
It’s been a while and I have nothing to show really. Internship and some study obligations are keeping me quite occupied. Life’s good though. A lot going on, a lot on my mind.
I plan to graduate my Masters in 6 months, which feels like the end of an era is approaching. And ever since I started blogging I haven’t been keeping up with my photo albums as religiously as I used to. These factors combined (and flipping through some biographical photobooks this morning) make me want to put together a photo book of the past 5 years. And I think I will do that. It’s a good way of regaining the physicality of photography that I miss a bit since I started digitalizing/blogging/shooting digital and stopped putting prints in photo albums.
I think this post should be categorized under “note to self” :)
On another note: one roll of film in the XA is waiting to be finished, another already finished one is waiting to get to the lab. This blog will be updated with some photos again at some point.
