Summershenanigans

August 31, 2008

Tomorrow uni starts again, so this is officially my last day of Summer. Time to look back on it! With a shitload of photos. Hope you enjoy! I know I did while shooting :)

Let’s start in Rotterdam, where I’ve moved to 2 months ago, at the beginning of Summer.

(This is Superia800 shot with the XD-7 and 35/2)

Having dinner with my new roommates. Good people!

(And me always hunting for the fork-in-mouth-shot)

Oh, I had a nice surprise btw when I collected the rolls from my lab: they give them out with a cd with scans nowadays. For free! Had to colourcorrect the shit out of them though, but it saves me time scanning!

Myrn & JD came by my new place to break it in with some… ehrm… mindfreeing stuff.

“I’m SO gonna smoke you, you little cig!”

Gotta love the light in my room <3

Ok, continueing to hang out in Nijmegen. At the Summerfestival to be precise.

(Kodak Portra 400NC loaded in the Olympus XA)

Too much drunken photos to show more from this roll… Thus moving on to some Superia800 in the XD-7 with the 50/1.7 lens.

Since I don’t live in Nijmegen anymore I crashed at my friends’ places. And had humus sandwiches for breakfast at Myrna’s <333

Gotta love that stuff.

Coffee and cigarettes on the balcony.

Some random frames from my days in Nijmegen.

Running into Dennis, whose new-shirt-complementing-his-eyes made me take this frame.

Fink(’s foot) performing.

I’m wondering if this kinda stuff is still interesting. Perhaps in the future I will update shorter entries (with more random frames, not so much storytelling) on a more regular base. What do you think?

Well, for now it’s still oldschoolstyle so I’m moving on to some frames from Budapest:

During our bustrip which made us all kinda crazy.

(Sup800, XD-7, 35/2)

When we arrived to our hostel it was all peace and zen. Which we needed after the trip.

Extensive hanging out followed.

Totally pimpin’ with those HUF’s!

Memento Park.

I think there was a glitch in the developingprocess – since this doesn’t really looks like a regular lightleak. Oh well.

Some random frames from around town.

These are all shot with the Olympus XA, btw – I couldn’t be bothered to drag my slr with me all day long. It was too hot for that. But the XA served me well. That cute lil’ flashy thing.

And hanging out in ruin pubs. How awesome these are! My god. This was Szimpla, I think. Fantastic place.

Some non-flashy atmospheric shots.

I thought I was really playing it cool with this frame – I walked to the bar, set the timer, put the XA down, ordered a drink, took the drink and the cam and walked back. But nooo… these guys are looking straight into the camera! So much for being sneaky.

Andrew aka Lorenzo back in the hostel.

Some more hanging out. Margarita sziget this time.

^ Might be one of my fav frames from the trip.

Hanging out at the Heroes’ Square. We had so much retarded fun there. Which kinda stopped when we missed the last metro home, haha.

At the photographymuseum:

That’s it for Budapest. What an amazing city it was. And great people. Yeah, it was a good trip. I only shot 3 rolls though! Opposed to Berlin last year where I shot about 11 or so. Things change I guess. And talking about change… I went digital last week – bought a 450D. With a 50/1.8. Thinking about getting the Canon 28/1.8 or the Sigma 30/1.4 later on. Something wider at least. Any thoughts on that?

Well, it’s been a long entry and thanks for making it so far! I’m just gonna show a couple of digital files I shot in the past days and then call it a day :)

Well, thanks again for dropping by – I hope you enjoyed and all is well

The City Is Ours

August 3, 2008

Hello all, time for a new blogentry! Got back from Budapest last week and had an amazing time – shot a couple of rolls which have yet to be developed… But I have to wait till I got some more money. For now some old stuff I never came around posting, from a musicfestival some time ago:

The trainride to The Hague.

All negscans, obviously.
Tri-x shot with the XD-7 + 50/1.7 – developed in d76.

Double exposure :)

Dancing in the rain to the awesome C-Mon & Kypski.

Catching some breath.

Catching some beer.

Myrna belching – hahaha, I love that frame so much.

Goose performing and being photographed.

Mr. Handsome with his fur blowing in the wind.

On our way home – tired from all day dancing :)

Some other stuff from around the same time,
photographing with my dad at the countryside where I grew up:

Aaand some more old stuff (tri-x+2),
Teaching darkroomclasses with Vincent:

Ahh, got some good memories from those evenings.

That’s it for now. Thanks for dropping by – hope all is well!
