Boredom
November 29, 2006
I just developed and printed a roll of neopan400, which I completely shot out of utter, sincere, complete boredom. Not a sensible photo on it!
It started on the 7th of November; my father’s birthday. Now what is more boring than a familygathering on the countryside when it’s cold outside?
My sis and me gave our dad a cyclinghelmet. I think he looks so retarded here, I need to do something with this photo for the holidays!
We had dinner.
My mother recently started playing bridge, and she was showing off her new set to her son in law. I was still bored.
My sister apparantely was bored too and insisted on taking my picture with my camera. It’s cute to see that she never seems to get the exposure and focus on both at the same time, but I love her for trying (although I think she only does it to “get back at me”).
Desert

Which was very tasty, I love Australian icecream.
The other day I went for dinner at friends. Which was boring too, in a good way.
I was just focusing on Myrna, who was talking to Joost and just the moment I hit the shutter she put the glass to her breast and said “I’m Madonna”. I couldn’t breathe of laughter, it was too good to be true. Love her timing!
We smoked some weed afterwards, I guess the (lack of) focus suits our state of mind at that moment quite well.
In that same week I went with Joost to an informationday of some mastercourse. The trainride took us 2.5 hours; which was… boring. (I just like the lineplay and the tones here).
Trainportraits; what can I say? I love ‘em.
We were early and just hung out a bit and drove away the boredom by taking photos. He showed me the one he took of me here, but I haven’t got it around.
So after having showed all this boredom, I must say I do quite love my boring life ;) Hope it at least entertained you too :)
I think I came up with a title and forgot it again.

Had a tough printingsession today. I’m trying to catch up with all I shot this summer and lots of it is underexposed due to my Canonet and/or me being slightly intoxicated.
Starting out with some photos of Joost. On our way back from Prague, early August. We bought some vodka for a friend, but unfortunately it didn’t make the way back entirely…
Here he’s expressing a gesture we’ve seen a lot of baby Jesus sculptures do in Prague. It’s a sign of… rhetorizing? Apx100, Minolta SRT-101, 50/1.7.
Neopan400.
Myrna in this really great jazzpub in Antwerp, of which I forgot the name ofcourse. I think I wrote it down in my agenda somewhere though. Good beer, good music, good times. Really love the deep blacks here. I still prefer such stuff over high key stuff. Neopan400 again (with the Canonet this time).
Today I managed to print some photos I already convicted ‘unprintable’. It’s hard to get some nice blacks and still have some decent tones, when underexposed so horribly. Some advice would be gladly taken! Apx100 with the Canonet, late August.
I bet you recognize this place from some portraits of Bernhard and Michael.
That’s it again for now. Can’t wait to get to some decent negatives and photographs again; lots of shitty touristy shots, haha.
Some shots that entertained me

I was cleaning up my mailbox and found some photos which I liked, from the last night in Paris still. Yes, I need to get off my ass and get some new stuff! First uploading this, then a shower and then… darkroom. Aahhh, bliss.
Neopan1600, scans from negative.
The festival in Le Zenith.
Leaving early in the morning. This was just a shot to remember the place where we stayed, but it might turn out to be the photo I like the most from those days. Have to print it first to judge it properly though.
Shower!
